What sparked your interest in pursuing a career in music initially? Was there a specific moment or experience that fueled your passion?
My name is Jordyn Rayne and I am a 24 year old pop/punk singer-songwriter in Edmonton, Alberta. I initially started out in musical theater and even attended Randolph College of Performing Arts in Toronto before deciding it wasn’t for me. However, I knew I still wanted to sing and perform so I came back home and got accepted into the music program at MacEwan. After graduating with a vocal performance diploma from Grant MacEwan University in 2022, I released my first full-length album “Time Capsule.” This was a compilation of songs about heartbreak, friendship, and life’s complications. It was a folk/pop album and my first attempt at songwriting/producing my own music. Following this release, I gathered up a four-piece band and we toured around Edmonton promoting these songs. Through performing with this band, I began to determine that the way I performed, and the genre of the songs from my first album, did not mesh. After riding the release of my first original album, I started to write more music that captured more of the sound I wanted to portray. Writing my second album “Lady,” released on June 7th, I wanted to write more powerful songs that emulated who I am as a person now, and how I want to be seen as a performer. “Lady”: will serve as a perfect representation of my energy on stage and serves as my debut rock release
Could you characterize your musical style and the genre(s) you associate with? Are there specific artists or musicians who have played a significant role in shaping your sound?
When I wrote my upcoming album I took huge inspiration from Avril Lavigne or Olivia Rodrigo their her pop/punk style and Miley Cyrus for her performance style. I grew up on female rock artists like Pat Benetar, Joan Jett and of course Stevie Nicks that have inspired who I am as a musician. I have my classic rock roots mixed with the popular pop/punk music of today that combine to make my sound.

“1-800-Cyber-Bully” is a hard-hitting rock anthem that directly addresses the pervasive issue of cyberbullying, calling out those who hide behind their screens to demean and harass others.
“1-800-Cyber-Bully” showcases my unflinching honesty and powerful voice, delivering a message that is both timely and necessary. The inspiration for this song was my part experiences with bullying and how cyberbullying continues to plague the younger generations, this song serves as a rallying cry for resilience and self-empowerment. With its infectious rhythm and stirring lyrics, I am hoping listeners will find themselves both moved and motivated to stand against online harassment.
In what way do you anticipate your latest song resonating with your existing fan base and attracting new listeners? What message or emotions do you aim for listeners to glean from the song?
This song has already received critical acclaim from various sources. “The song is both haunting and uplifting, addressing a critical issue with grace and intensity. It’s an emotional rollercoaster that everyone needs to experience.” I imagine that this song will resonate with anyone in the younger generation’s as they have experienced the most cyberbullying. I hope listeners will feel empowered to take action when hearing “1-800-Cyber-Bully.’
How does this track contribute to the overarching narrative or theme of your upcoming album or project?
While writing my most recent album “Lady,” I didn’t want it to be another heartbreak or love album that seems to follow female artists. I wanted to talk about real issues that follow the everyday woman and the younger generations of the community. When finding the sound for this album I knew I needed songs that helped me portray my rock n roll energy on stage and gave me an outlet to perform as out there as I like. “1-800-Cyber-Bully” is a perfect representation of those goals.
Maintaining creativity and motivation can be challenging. Do you have any rituals or habits that you find instrumental in sustaining your artistic drive?
Whenever I block writers I force myself to write. I take my songbook with me anywhere and force myself to write down my thoughts. You never know what might turn out to be useful in a song. I find I am not one of those writers that can easily be consistently writing songs so when I know I should start writing again I start out by writing down ideas and then building off those.
Do you have any upcoming projects or releases that you’re particularly enthusiastic about? Can you offer any teasers or details?
My second full length album “Lady” is now out on all music platforms and I anticipate this album being the turning point for my career.
