What sparked your interest in pursuing a career in music initially? Was there a specific moment or experience that fueled your passion?
I guess it is two fold. As a young child, when I was forced to make a decision between gymnastics and cello, I picked cello since I saw its longevity and had a lot of support in the music realm. And then when I quit classical music, I of course started playing cello a few months later and played with a singer songwriter. When we went on tour I started writing songs, and the light bulb went off and I was like this is what I am supposed to do!
Could you characterize your musical style and the genre(s) you associate with? Are there specific artists or musicians who have played a significant role in shaping your sound?
I guess my style or genre is a mix of Classically trained to chamber Pop friendly. I can’t get the music I studied and do love out of me ( Bach Brahms Beethoven) but I love pop George Michael, Prince, Some songs of Katy Perry (wide Awake) Miley Cyrus ( Flowers) , etc. I tend to like a specific tunes more than the artists, these days… I think everything I listen to effects me as a person and musician. So a lot fo different music has shaped my ear. I would say I have more an affinity with the music of past eras.
Share with us the inspiration behind your most recent single. What triggered the creative process for this specific piece?
My last single is “Vinaigrette” which was the idea and feeling of traveling to different places, and to do it on a private plane, so kind of a fantasy song, even though I have flown first class, and it is miles beyond the normal traveling class, so I bet a private plane is really awesome. It is hard to say what triggered the song, but I wrote this with my co-writing friend. And usually when we get together something musical comes out!
In what way do you anticipate your latest song resonating with your existing fan base and attracting new listeners? What message or emotions do you aim for listeners to glean from the song?
Nothing specifically just a funky jam, saying hello and thank you in different languages. And the feel of traveling even if you are sitting in your home. The earth is always spinning so the earth is traveling and we are on it. That is part of the idea, but to enjoy the song. Maybe get up and move..
How does this track contribute to the overarching narrative or theme of your upcoming album or project?
Right now it doesnt. I have found albums challenging as most people do not have cd players anymore so it isn’t something an artist can sell. Yes online, but I see the future of music, is in singles. I could be wrong, and have even thought to make an LP. Talk about something no
one has. Well plenty of people have turntables, just not that many. So if I do a compilation CD or LP it might just be various songs I out together.
Maintaining creativity and motivation can be challenging. Do you have any rituals or habits that you find instrumental in sustaining your artistic drive?
I have a lot of rituals, but I don’t know if they are directly correlated to my creativity. I do find meditation and my Buddhist practice helpful in general. Right now I still want to write songs and get them produced. Two in the preparing stages. It is really about just putting my money towards it and not getting discouraged when I cannot see the return financially.
Do you have any upcoming projects or releases that you’re particularly enthusiastic about? Can you offer any teasers or details?
I have two songs that I want to record. One is a song for my niece who got married in September, so I wrote it for her. And the other is a song I wrote after I returned from a trip to Italy about timelines that I think is cool. Just figuring out who I want to produce and how that will pan out… !
